Systematic review shows HPV ctDNA clearance predicts residual disease and relapse in cervical cancer, indicating its potential use in follow-up care.
In locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC), conventional post-chemoradiation assessment cannot reliably distinguish true response from occult residual disease. Human papillomavirus circulating tumour DNA (HPV ctDNA) is a promising biomarker of treatment response. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine whether failure of HPV ctDNA clearance after definitive chemoradiation predicts residual disease and relapse.
