Shows improved SHG efficiency in KDP crystals, indicating the benefits of wavy supports.
Second harmonic generation (SHG) of a high-power laser beam in a potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4, KDP) crystal supported on a wavy surface is studied. A method is proposed to enhance the SHG efficiency by suppressing the deformation via adopting a wavy support surface. A theoretical model is developed to study the deformation and its effect on the SHG efficiency, taking into account the characteristics of the wavy surface. Additionally, the effects of the structural parameters of the wavy surface are investigated. The results reveal that using wavy surfaces to support the KDP crystal can reduce the deformation, thereby improving the SHG efficiency.
