Qualitative analysis explores national belonging in Indonesia amid digital culture and mobility, suggesting evolving identities.
This study examines the #KaburAjaDulu phenomenon as a digital space where Indonesian national belonging is articulated amid socio-economic uncertainty and transnational mobility. Using a qualitative approach through digital discourse analysis and Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis framework, the study analyses 287 posts on Platform X collected during February 2025. The findings reveal recurring narratives linking institutional dissatisfaction, migration aspirations, and emotionally amplified discourse, producing increasingly conditional and ambivalent forms of belonging. Rather than indicating the erosion of nationalism, the discourse reflects shifting forms of attachment shaped by digital mediation, affective dynamics, and transnational imaginaries within contemporary Indonesian digital culture.
