Abstract

Hindi journalism has played a fundamental role in constructing, and preserving, historical and cultural narratives in India over the past two centuries. From its early association with social reform movements and nationalist consciousness to its contemporary engagement with identity politics and cultural representation, Hindi journalism has functioned not only as a medium of information but as a powerful tool of meaning-making. This paper examines how historical events, cultural traditions and regional identities have been framed, interpreted and disseminated through Hindi print and digital platforms. The study critically analyses the evolution of narrative strategies in Hindi journalism, highlighting its contribution to shaping public understanding of history, heritage and national identity. It also explores the ideological shifts, editorial policies and socio-political contexts that influenced cultural representations across different periods. In the contemporary era, which is marked by artificial intelligence, algorithms and digital convergence, the paper interrogates how historical and cultural narratives are being redefined, amplified or fragmented within online ecosystems. By placing Hindi journalism at the intersection of media and cultural discourse, this research highlights its continuing relevance in negotiating tradition and modernity while responding to technological disruptions.
