Demonstrates effective pseudorandom number generation using cellular automata, suggesting novel applications.
This study investigates cellular automata (CA) as pseudorandom number generators (PRNGs). Building on CA fundamentals, we design a novel two-dimensional, ten-state CA model. Key design elements included state space, neighborhood interactions, and specifically, two innovative update rules developed for this environment. The model efficiently generates two-dimensional arrays of decimal pseudorandom numbers exhibiting strong statistical properties. Rigorous testing confirmed that the generated sequences closely resemble true randomness, establishing the model’s viability and reliability as a PRNG. This work advances CA theory and offers new approaches for pseudorandom number generation with broad application potential.
