Working paper explores the integration of AI and manufacturing intelligence, highlighting sovereignty in governance and economics.
"AI and MI: Sovereign AI and Sovereign Manufacturing" (Working Paper WP-2026-003) The pyramid built by artificial intelligence (AI) is in plain sight: semiconductors and data centers, large models and the cloud form its tiers. This paper erects a second pyramid, an almost exact mirror image of the first — Manufacturing Intelligence (MI). The two pyramids are a single square rotated 45 degrees and split along its diagonal, and the line that divides them is at once a tariff line and a surface line. Above lies the state-led, formal, objective domain (semiconductors, automobiles, robots), the object of tariffs and sanctions; below lies the citizen-led, informal, subjective domain (fashion, consumer goods), which escapes aggregate statistics. The paper's central move is to lay the ladder of AI capability (AI→AGI→ASI) one-to-one over manufacturing (MI→MGI→MSI). Of Wiener's three axes (matter, energy, information), beyond the two that Gershenfeld's "bits and atoms" names, this paper raises the third — energy, which for human beings is labor, and therefore sovereignty — as its sharpest point of differentiation. The empirical specimen is digital textile printing. Through the shift of medium from PET film to paper (Direct-to-Paper, DTP), the paper shows how seven layers — material, equipment, process, production, logistics, platform, and finance — correspond as mirror images. The two pyramids converge on the same apex — a financial and settlement infrastructure cleared in a sovereign currency — and the contest over that apex extends from the analog China Shock (first and second) of industrial civilization to the digital China Shock (third and fourth) of AI civilization. The paper stakes this entire structure on three time-bound, falsifiable predictions, and proposes an ordering of the age — Sovereign Manufacturing — that arranges intelligence, labor, manufacturing, and governance in a 30:30:30:10 ratio. This paper is published in Korean, English, and Portuguese (Brazil). This is the English edition. Author: Chang, Hyung Kee · KOTINESTEORCID: 0009-0003-0921-8014Contact: denix@kotineste.com
