Predicting the deformation and stabilization time of tunnels in squeezing surrounding rock is essential for deformation control during tunnel construction. This study proposes a seepage-theory-based prediction method for surrounding rock deformation and deformation stabilization time. First, the correlation between the seepage field and displacement field during tunnel excavation and support was analyzed through numerical simulation. A seepage comprehensive coefficient corresponding to the strength-stress ratio was then introduced, and the mapping relationship between the two parameters was established. Based on field monitoring data and numerical simulation results, the relationships among deformation stabilization time, strength-stress ratio, seepage comprehensive coefficient, and seepage stabilization time were further obtained. The proposed method was finally applied to analyze the effects of downtime and support closure distance. The results show that the displacement field and seepage field caused by tunnel excavation disturbance show a high degree of consistency in terms of spatial distribution and evolution trend. The prediction of surrounding rock deformation and deformation stabilization time can be realized by calculating the seepage model; compared with methods such as creep constitutive model, it has advantages of simple parameters and easy acquisition, and provides a new idea for the prediction of surrounding rock deformation and deformation stabilization time of tunnels in squeezing surrounding rock.
