Newly identified species of Lugoiops highlights morphological differences in a rare genus.
Lugoiops cusuco n. sp. (Ephemeroptera: Baetidae) is described from larvae collected in Honduras and El Salvador. This is only the second species of Lugoiops described since the genus was established, and only the second report of it in the literature. The new species differs from Lugoiops maya based upon several characteristics, including the presence of a median caudal filament (absent in L. maya), longer antennae, and multiple differences in mouthparts morphology.https://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:C5F4A64E-DF1E-4DE1-AA6A-611590BE46EA
