Shows improved recovery outcomes in patients post-total hip replacement, suggesting better rehabilitation methods are crucial.
Total hip replacement (THR) is one of the most effective methods of surgical treatment for severe degenerative-dystrophic and traumatic lesions of the hip joint [1,2]. The surgery success is largely determined by the quality and consistency of postoperative rehabilitation [6,23]. This article systematizes current data on the stages, methods and principles of rehabilitation of patients after THR. Pathophysiological mechanisms of motor function recovery, basic protocols of exercise therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy and manual therapy at each stage of rehabilitation process are considered. Particular attention has been paid to a multidisciplinary approach, prevention of postoperative complications as well as the methodology for assessing functional results using validated clinical scales [19-21].
