Demonstrates enhanced sodium storage in 1T-phase MoS2 anodes with dual electron injection, suggesting a novel design approach.
ABSTRACT 1T phase MoS 2 with metallic properties holds great promise as an anode for sodium‐ion batteries owing to its high electrical conductivity. However, the inherent thermodynamic instability of 1T‐MoS 2 poses a significant challenge in achieving stable phases with high content. Herein, we report a facile dual‐strategy electron injection via C 2 O 4 2− intercalation and W‐doping to construct 1T‐rich MoS 2 with sulfur vacancy (W‐C 2 O 4 2− ‐MoS 2‐x ) for enhanced sodium storage. Notably, the synergistic electron injection from C 2 O 4 2− and W not only drives the phase transition from 2H to 1T but also substantially increases the yield of the 1T phase. In addition, the sulfur vacancies generated by W‐doping further reduce the energy barrier for phase transformation. DFT calculations indicate that the co‐incorporation of W and C 2 O 4 2− injects more electrons to MoS 2 , increasing the energy difference for the reverse 1T‐to‐2H transition, thereby favoring the 1T phase stabilization. Consequently, W‐C 2 O 4 2− ‐MoS 2‐x with a high 1T phase content of 74.6% delivers a high reversible capacity of 524.6 mAh g − 1 at 0.1 A g − 1 , excellent rate capability (395.5 mAh g − 1 at 10 A g − 1 ), and outstanding long‐term cycling stability (412.8 mAh g − 1 at 2 A g − 1 after 1000 cycles). This dual‐strategy electron injection provides a new avenue for designing high‐performance MoS 2 anodes.
