Erythermalgia can be primary or secondary, with secondary cases frequently associated with myeloproliferative disorders that may manifest years later.
Babb et al. (1964) conducted an observational in Erythermalgia (n=51). Erythermalgia was evaluated on Clinical characteristics and associated conditions. Among 51 patients with erythermalgia, 30 had primary disease with more intense, bilateral pain in younger individuals, while secondary disease was linked to myeloproliferative disorders in 10 cases.
