This theoretical paper argues for an experimental approach to epistemic governance, highlighting its role in science and AI systems.
The history of science can be read as a history of instrumentation. This paper argues that the epistemic governance framework developed by the author's laboratory represents an attempt to instrument epistemology itself. But the framework is not the telescope; it is the astronomer. The telescope observes; the astronomer governs observation. Current AI systems fuse these roles; constitutional epistemic governance separates them. The models are interchangeable executors. The constitution is the invariant. The lasting contribution is the conversion of epistemic governance into an experimentally manipulable, formally characterizable, and independently measurable object.
