Annotation samples support visible net annual-crop mapping in Xinjiang, suggesting improved agricultural monitoring.
This record provides the annotation sample component of OasisCrop v1.0, a dataset developed for mapping visible net annual-crop surfaces in arid oasis agriculture across Xinjiang, China. The sample package contains manually interpreted binary cropland labels, sample metadata, file inventories, and data dictionaries used to support model training, validation, and quality assessment for OasisCrop. The labels follow the OasisCrop definition of visible net annual-crop surface. Included areas represent annual or short-cycle crop fields, managed fallow fields, facility agriculture used for crop production, and newly reclaimed fields with clear field-layout or irrigation evidence. Excluded areas include orchards and tree plantations, shelterbelts, roads, canals, settlements, water bodies, non-cultivated bare or saline-alkali surfaces, Gobi surfaces, dry riverbeds, and abandoned land without reliable cultivation traces. The source high-resolution image base is not redistributed in this record because it is subject to third-party access restrictions. The released files therefore focus on the annotation labels and metadata needed to inspect the training and validation sample design. Users should cite this annotation-sample record together with the OasisCrop main product record when using the labels to reproduce, evaluate, or extend the dataset.
