Addition of Bulbophyllum yunxiaoense enhances knowledge of orchid diversity, indicating ecological concerns in the region.
Bulbophyllum yunxiaoense is added as the 146 th taxon to the orchid flora of Hong Kong. Color plates are provided along with notes on its taxonomy, historical background, and flowering phenology. The species is assessed both globally and regionally as Endangered. In addition, B. yunxiaoense is compared with two closely related species, the Taiwanese endemic Bulbophyllum pingtungense and the Sri Lankan endemic Bulbophyllum wightii , to which it has often been related by various orchid experts. An identification key for all species of the genus Bulbophyllum recorded in Hong Kong is also included along with a copy of the original drawing of Bulbophyllum wightii .
