Qualitative pilot study examines resilience sources and service gaps for Latine immigrant families, indicating areas for improvement.
Community-based providers offer unique perspectives on resilience among Latine immigrant families living in the San Diego-Tijuana border region. Interpreted through the Community Resilience Framework (CRF), this pilot qualitative study examined provider perspectives on community-level sources of resilience and service gaps affecting Latine immigrant mothers and children. Based on a thematic analysis of 22 semi-structured interviews conducted in 2019, the findings identify three interrelated resilience capacities: social capital, community competence, and information/communication. Providers emphasized the importance of peer support, mentorship, advocacy, and access to trusted information. Gaps in mental health services, care coordination, and culturally responsive community-led programs were identified.
