Formalizes the Limited Perceptual Domain Theory to express the structure of perception, suggesting implications for understanding reality.
This paper isolates and develops the formal component of the Limited Perceptual Domain Theory (LPDT), proposing a set-theoretic and functional notation to describe an observer's perceptual domain, the non-invertible nature of perception, the effect of technological extension, and the concept of local truth. The framework integrates insights from Kantian epistemology, Donald Hoffman's Interface Theory of Perception, predictive neuroscience (predictive coding), and the physics of observational limits. The aim is not to produce a predictive physical model, but to offer a rigorous conceptual tool for expressing, in a shared formal language, a structural limit already implicit across these disciplines: that access to reality is always mediated by a finite perceptual domain. This work formalizes one component of the broader theory presented in discursive form in R. Grando, "La Teoria del Dominio Limitato Percettivo: Conoscenza, osservazione e realtà oltre l'esperienza" (2026). Both the English ("The Perceptual Domain as a Relational Structure") and Italian ("Il Dominio Percettivo come Struttura Relazionale") versions of the paper are included as files in this record.
