This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of wound characteristics, microbial profiles, and reconstructive approaches managed within a tertiary plastic surgery department in Thanjavur medical college. A retrospective observational study of 63 patients was assessed for demographic patterns, etiological factors, laboratory markers, culture findings, and operative interventions. Traumatic injuries particularly road traffic accidents emerged as the predominant cause. Lower-limb wounds constituted over half of the cases. Gram‑negative pathogens, notably Pseudomonas spp. and Klebsiella spp., were frequently isolated. Split‑thickness skin grafting remained the most commonly employed reconstructive method. These findings underscore the importance of targeted trauma‑prevention strategies, optimized infection control, and structured reconstructive planning.
