HIOF-Information — Fundamentals (HIOF-IF)A Narrative Introduction to a Holographic Information-Ontological Framework Across Mind, Civilisation, and Cosmos Overview The HIOF-TOM Models series is not built upon, beneath, or in dialogue with any existing theoretical framework, nor is it an extension or variant of any other HIOF series in circulation. Any resemblance to other frameworks is coincidental, not intentional engagement. This series spans multiple scales at once — macroscopic cosmos and microscopic particles, mind, society, biological life, history, and economics — drawing science, metaphysics, theology, aesthetics, and philosophy back onto a single, shared informational-ontological foundation. The core work is not to dig deeper within one discipline, but to build a bridge crossable between disciplines and schools of thought. Information as Currency: To Exist Is to Transact Information here is a medium of exchange — to exist is to transact. Any structure, subject, or event exists because it participates in some form of informational exchange, leaving a trace. Information should therefore be understood as currency, and currency has two inseparable faces. When information can be used, decoded, or converted into action or meaning at the current transactional level, it functions as music — structured, directional, resonant. When it cannot be used or decoded at that level, it becomes noise. Noise does not mean useless. It simply means no venue yet exists, at this level, to exchange it. That same information may be the music of some higher or deeper transactional level still to come — the receiver has not yet arrived, or the decoding interface has not yet matured. A Concrete Example My earlier series is, to most general readers, almost entirely noise — dense with formulas and derivations, with no easy entry point. Following Einstein's approach to explaining relativity, I translated these ideas into a more accessible companion series using everyday examples, hoping it could bridge general readers and the original framework. Yet this companion series becomes new noise to scientists — containing no formulas, it cannot be absorbed into their habitual frameworks of verification and exchange. This is the clearest demonstration of what information actually is: the same content, at different transactional levels, facing different receiving interfaces, continually shifts between music and noise. Information is never a fixed property — only ever relative to the level at which the transaction takes place. About This Companion Series: HIOF-Information — Fundamentals This companion series comprises six papers, selected from the core propositions of my original series and rewritten in accessible, narrative language — translating that earlier noise, at this new level, back into music a wider readership can receive. All six papers share one narrative starting point: an airport departure lounge, where a Cambridge student experiences an unexpected heartbreak, launching a journey across information ontology, time, relationships, freedom, transactions, and psycho-spiritual entropy. A departure lounge is itself a site where information waits to be cleared, exchanged, and given direction — echoing the series' core proposition that to exist is to transact. Each paper shows this protagonist living through one instance of information converting between noise and music. The six papers, in sequence: I. Fundamentals — the foundational architecture of information ontology; the 5/95 structure and the Zero-Entropy Interface II. Time — the ontology of delay; time as the cost of materialising information III. Relations — shared reality; the tension between spiritual gravity and matrix gravity IV. Freedom — the gap between stimulus and response; the inscription of a non-deterministic choice V. Transactions — the bargaining universe; physical law as a long-settled price VI. Psycho-Spiritual Entropy — the anatomy of meaning collapse, and the paths of resilience and redemption These six papers are, at once, an attempt to render the original theory into music, and a structure deliberately built to remain decodable — capable of leading a reader, at some future level, back toward the original formula-based framework.
