This article presents the upstream ontology of light. Light is defined as a propagating relational invariant —a stable, repeatable pattern of reorganization that traverses the relational architecture because local absorption is impossible. The paper contrasts upstream ontology with downstream physical interpretations (photon, electromagnetic wave, radiation), clarifies the role of gravity as a gradient of stabilization, and explainswhy propagation is traversal of relational structure rather than motion through space. The Sun, stellar sources, and artificial light are analyzed as generators of reorganizations that produce propagating invariants. The article also includes a canonical distinction between relational and mass‑based propagation to prevent confusion with matter waves or electrical currents.
