Reply confirms findings on Harappan Ernestites' geochemistry, addressing methodological critiques.
In the comment on our study of Harappan Ernestites [Mahala et al. npj Heritage Science , 2025, 13, 615], Khaliq [ npj Heritage Science , 2026] questioned our methodology and interpretations. The distinct composition of the aluminosilicate phase supports its identification as pseudomullite and validates our temperature estimates. Provenance was constrained using robust isotopic fingerprinting. We therefore uphold our conclusions, while acknowledging the study’s limitations and adherence to established scientific standards.
