This research evaluated the influence of human resources practices (HRPs) on career sustainability (CS) by examining the intermediary function of psychological states among 375 participants employed in five-star hotels situated in Greater Cairo. Utilizing PLS-SEM, the study scrutinized the hypotheses predicting the sustainability of careers. The findings indicated a positive association between HRP and psychological states (namely Safety, meaningfulness, and availability), with all three psychological states positively impacting CS. Furthermore, the concepts of psychological safety and meaningfulness are found to have a mediating effect on the link between HRP and the sustainability of one’s career. Nonetheless, psychological availability does not act as a mediator in the connection between HRP and CS. The present research delivers insights on theoretical and managerial implications, as well as outlines potential future avenues for exploration.
