These claims have been amplified to audiences numbering in the millions and have been accepted as authoritative despite the absence of credentialed ballistic analysis supporting them. The author, a former United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance Scout Sniper (MOS 0317/8541) with combat service and approximately three decades of professional engagement with terminal ballistics, applies established principles of external ballistics, terminal tissue mechanics, hydrostatic shock physics, and atmospheric ballistics to the documented facts of the Kirk shooting. The analysis addresses the following confirmed facts: a single .30-06 caliber non-bonded soft point projectile was fired from approximately 142 yards at an elevation of 4,750 feet above sea level under documented atmospheric conditions (82-85°F, 26% humidity, 30.0 in Hg barometric pressure, 6 mph SSE wind) on September 10, 2025; the projectile struck Kirk in the right lateral neck; no exit wound was produced; a bullet fragment was recovered during autopsy with a secondary fragment reported near the heart; and immediate decorticate posturing was observed upon impact.
