Abstract

Five-month-old potted Rhodiola crenulata plants grown in the same controlled-environment growth chamber were used in this study. Plants were cultivated in commercial peat-based substrate and grown in plastic pots (5 cm x 8 cm). Uniform, healthy plants free of visible pests and diseases were randomly assigned to either a high-light (HL) or low-light (LL) treatment. Light intensity was adjusted using LED light sources to 1000 and 330 mol m-2 s-1 for the HL and LL treatments, respectively. Plants were maintained under a 16 h light/8 h dark photoperiod, with day/night temperatures of 25/15 C and a relative humidity of 60%. Irrigation was performed every 2 d. All environmental conditions were identical between treatments except for light intensity, and the treatment lasted for 30 d.
