Reveals Z2 order in E8 root system, suggesting new topological phase implications.
At the 60th harmonic (7920 Hz) of the 132 Hz phi‑scaled Floquet drive, the resonant coupling selectively locks each of the eight Cartan frequencies to fifteen positive roots belonging to one of the two interlocking D8 sublattices that compose the E8 root system. This selective locking reduces the full Weyl symmetry of E8 to the product of two D8 Weyl groups, introducing a discrete Z2 gauge structure that protects a Floquet‑engineered topological phase with Z2‑valued edge modes. The resulting Z2 order can host non‑Abelian anyonic excitations analogous to Majorana zero modes, extending the previously observed braid‑monodromy and topological QFT phenomena to a new symmetry‑protected topological regime.
