Spotlight interview explores early-career research on migratory songbirds, highlighting diversity and methodologies.
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Clara D'Autilia is an author on ‘ Differential responses to photoperiod in juveniles of two migratory songbird species’, published in JEB. Clara conducted the research described in this article while a Master's student in Susanne Åkesson's lab at Lund University, Sweden. Clara is now an Erasmus+ Trainee working as a research assistant in the lab of Magnus Wahlberg at the University of Southern Denmark, Denmark, investigating animal behaviour and mechanisms of animal orientation and communication.
