Retrospective analysis evaluates osteoarthritis as a risk factor for inflammatory arthritis after checkpoint inhibitor therapy, suggesting implications for patient management.
We read with great interest the work by Fitzpatrick et al,¹ in which the authors evaluate radiographic osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip as a risk factor for the development of inflammatory arthritis following immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment. In their study, Fitzpatrick et al retrospectively reanalyzed coronal sections of the computed tomography scans of the abdomen and pelvis (performed for cancer staging) and scored the presence and severity of hip OA present prior to the start of ICI therapy.¹
