LinkedIn data analysis reveals sustainable packaging strategies in firms emphasizing circular economy principles.
The shift toward a circular economy is driving companies to rethink packaging from a “make‑use‑dispose” approach to a continuous loop of “make‑use‑reuse‑remake‑recycle.” Packaging, which represents a significant share of municipal solid waste worldwide, offers one of the fastest ways to cut environmental impact through circular strategies. This study analyzes LinkedIn data from 1,249 companies that focus on sustainable packaging. Each company profile was examined to identify concrete innovations aligned with the established circular‑economy “Re‑” strategies. The paper clarifies how firms translate these principles into practice, highlights the most adopted “Re‑” strategies, and examines the companies that stated on LinkedIn to be active in the field of sustainable packaging. The study presents key characteristics of these companies like the geographical distribution, the industry sector they are operating in, the firm size and the number of followers. By mapping real‑world initiatives across a large sample, it provides actionable insights for businesses and policy makers aiming to accelerate the transition to circular packaging systems while maintaining economic viability.
