Novel composites demonstrate enhanced photoconductivity and photovoltaic response, highlighting potential applications.
Novel azo-methacrylic copolymer film composites doped with new organometallic Pd(II) complexes of different structure and content of “heavy” Pd atoms were prepared. Their spectral and photoelectrophysical properties were investigated. The obtained composites were found to exhibit photoconductivity and a photovoltaic effect upon photoexcitation of the azo chromophores. The photoconductivity features and the nature of the photovoltaic effect in the created composites were analyzed. The increase in photoconductivity and photovoltaic response in series from the azopolymer matrix to the Pd-complex-doped azopolymer composites was attributed to the influence of electron-acceptor ligands and the heavy-atom effect of palladium on the charge carriers photogeneration.
