Identifies diagnostic characters in Viola lutea, indicating typification standards.
Viola lutea Huds. is here lectotypified and epitypified following a critical examination of Hudson’s original material and the literature cited in the protologue. The designated lectotype and epitype are illustrations from Gerard et al. and the work of Jakob Theodor Tabernaemontanus, respectively, selected for their clear representation of the species’ diagnostic characters, which correspond with Hudson’s original description and the current interpretation of V. lutea. In accordance with Articles 9.3, 9.4(e), 9.9, and 9.12 of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN), the lectotype and epitype are designated here.
