Critical review examines mental health determinants among refugees, highlighting the role of psychosocial factors in recovery.
I am pleased to share that I have completed a new review article: "Gender and Psychosocial Factors in Refugee Mental Health: A Critical Review of Determinants, Experiences and Recovery." This paper critically examines recent evidence on refugee mental health and argues that recovery should be understood not only in terms of psychiatric symptoms but also in terms of belonging, identity, dignity, relationships, and social connectedness. The review also introduces Listening as Peace, a conceptual framework that positions listening as an ethical and relational practice that supports psychosocial recovery, recognition, and belonging.
