The article explores how Naipaul’s travelogues, Pipes’ history, and Huntington’s essay, viewed as Life Narratives, employ strategies of Othering and self-referentiality to construct the Muslim Other. Drawing on Saidian theory, it argues that such Othering embodies a clash of ignorance, inciting interreligious tensions, political rifts, and ahistoricism of intercivilizational exchanges.
