Chromosome 4q25 rs2200733 T allele is linked to ~86% higher odds of atrial fibrillation.
Why the study?
Does the rs2200733 T allele on chromosome 4q25 increase the risk of atrial fibrillation?

Does the rs2200733 T allele on chromosome 4q25 increase the risk of atrial fibrillation?
The rare rs2200733 T allele on chromosome 4q25 serves as a significant genetic predictor of atrial fibrillation in the Russian population.

rs2200733 T allele was associated with AF in this case-control study; leaves open predictive utility for risk stratification or screening.
The article deals with the issue of genetic determination of atrial fibrillation. In particular, it is shown that a rare polymorphism rs2200733 T allele on chromosome 4q25 statistically more frequently (p=0,029) in patients with atrial fibrillation compared with the control group data. The question of the functional significance of this polymorphism in the development of electrical instability of the atrial myocardium is also addressed.

Va et al. (2016) conducted a case-control in Atrial fibrillation (n=149). rs2200733 T allele on chromosome 4q25 vs. Absence of T allele / Control group without cardiovascular pathology was evaluated on Frequency of rs2200733 T allele (OR 1.86, p=0.029). The rare rs2200733 T allele on chromosome 4q25 was significantly more frequent in patients with atrial fibrillation compared to controls (OR 1.86, p=0.029).
