BackgroundCo-electrolysis technology based on the solid oxide electrolysis cell for syngas production offers numerous advantages, such as high efficiency and flexibly tunable H₂/CO ratio, enabling large-scale syngas production with high efficiency and low cost.PurposeThis study aims to collect data set for multi-physics coupling simulation of syngas production applied to improving the gas-thermal uniformity and stability of the stack during co-electrolysis by investigating the multi-physics coupling behavior of the complete electrolysis stack including inlet/outlet gas manifolds in the co-electrolysis process.MethodsFirstly, based on COMSOL software, a multi-physics coupled numerical simulation of co-electrolysis was developed for a six-cell solid oxide electrolysis stack. Then, the gas inlet temperature of the electrolysis stack was set to 700 °C, and the cathode-side inlet gas composition (steam∶carbon dioxide∶hydrogen) was 4∶4∶2. Finally, various multi-physics coupling simulation data of syngas production via co-electrolysis in a solid oxide electrolysis stack under different electrolysis voltages were obtained for data set construction.ResultsConstructed data set consists of the distribution data of carbon monoxide concentration field, carbon dioxide concentration field, steam concentration field, hydrogen concentration field, and temperature field under different electrolysis voltages ranging from 6.0 V to 7.8 V with interval of 0.6 V.ConclusionsThese data obtained in this study provide important support for the subsequent optimization and design of high-reliability co-electrolysis stacks, investigation of failure and damage mechanisms in co-electrolysis stacks, and the operation of co-electrolysis syngas production systems.
