A low-bandgap polymer-based photodetector exhibiting a calculated specific detectivity greater than 1.0 × 1013 cm Hz0.5 W−1 at wavelengths from 350 to 870 nm is enabled by a cross-linkable buffer layer. The device shows an extremely low dark current density of 0.64 nA cm−2 and high external quantum efficiency of 27.7% at a wavelength of 850 nm.
