Demonstrates effective sulfonomethylation in nitrogen-containing heterocycles, indicating a new synthesis method.
A photoinduced radical sulfonomethylation/cyclization of N -aryl/benzoyl acrylamides has been developed under metal/photocatalyst-free conditions. This photoconversion was driven by an EDA (electron donor–acceptor) complex, which was generated from RSO 2 CH 2 I and DABCO (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane). By employing this protocol, a broad spectrum of sulfonomethyl-substituted five- or six-membered nitrogen-containing heterocycles and complex drug derivatives were conveniently synthesized.
