Experimental design of a modular foam generator enhances foam height in fire extinguishing, suggesting increased efficacy.
The design of a modular foam generator with an adjustable geometry of dispersing elements has been developed. An optimal diamond-shaped configuration of six elements has been experimentally established, demonstrating a record increase in the height of the foam column by 225 % relative to the control samples. The data obtained substantiate the prospects of the technology for purposefully adapting the key performance characteristics of foam when extinguishing various classes of flammable liquids. The aim of the study was to create a modular foam generator with adjustable parameters, capable of adapting the characteristics of fire extinguishing foam to specific fire conditions and replacing outdated stationary structures. To obtain the results of the study, a comprehensive experimental approach was applied using 3D-prototyping and standardized testing methods. The data obtained during the study demonstrate a record increase in the height of the foam column by 225 % when using the optimal diamond-shaped configuration of six dispersing elements. The conducted research opens up broad prospects for the implementation of the developed foam generator in fire extinguishing systems of tank farms and other facilities with increased fire risk, contributing to an increase in the efficiency of extinguishing flammable liquids and ensuring industrial safety.
