Love as relational ethics in feminist educational ethnography

This paper examines the power of love as a transformational opportunity in educational ethnography. The arguments made draw primarily from the WomenWeLove project – a digital ethnography conducted by the Feminist Research Collective. This research situates the relational nature of ethnographic work and highlights love as a source of affect, agency, and relational ethics. As a community-based methodology, relationality and positionality have long been important aspects of ethnographic research. We argue that, at root, one can articulate various forms of love as an impetus for healing and transformation, which become possible through educational ethnography and its long-term commitments in the field.
