High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide Electromagnetic interference has become an important issue in semiconductor technology, and various electromagnetic shielding techniques have been developed such as metallic coating and wave absorbers; the former has a low resistance to oxidation and corrosive environments, and sufficient sample thickness is required for the latter. This study combines different low-dimension structures to show synergistic effects on X-band near-field electromagnetic shielding, and fabricating processes include delamination of MXene nanosheets and dispersion of carbon nanotubes and cobalt ferrite nanoparticles on thin films made of cellulosic fibers. Shielding is dominated by the absorption mechanism, and the shielding effectiveness and absorption coefficient reach values as high as 63.95 dB and 75.34%. Synergistic effects from individual components play a crucial role in improving the electromagnetic shielding performance as follows. Delamination of MXene nanosheets largely increases the polarization area, thus promoting dielectric loss. Dispersion of carbon nanotubes and cobalt ferrite nanoparticles in thin films, on the other hand, creates conductive networks and magnetic permeability and enhances resistive and magnetic loss, respectively. The mixing of the three nanostructures also induces radiation loss at heterogeneous interfaces.
