Case report reveals successful eradication of C. jejuni in CVID patient with refractory infection through faecal microbiota transplant.
Common variable immunodeficiency disorder (CVID) encapsulates numerous primary immune deficiencies leading to antibody deficiency, increased susceptibility to infections and, in some patients, cellular immunity abnormalities and immune dysregulation. Campylobacter jejuni has previously been demonstrated as a common cause of gastrointestinal infection in patients with primary immune deficiencies. Management is often complicated by antimicrobial resistance, with limited treatment options in refractory disease. We describe a case of successful eradication of C. jejuni in a patient with CVID with refractory infection following faecal microbiota transplant.
