Herein, a modified polyaniline adsorbent containing cobalt–Prussian blue with magnetic properties (PANI@CoPB + Mag) was synthesized for the heavy metal ion removal from aqueous solutions. The sample was characterized using XRF, VSM, XRD, FTIR, BET, and SEM. The addition of Mag and CoPB to PANI promoted the number of active sites via C≡N, Fe II –CN–Co II, Fe–O, and Fe–C≡N bonds. The removal percentages of Ni 2+, Zn 2+, and Pb 2+ were studied under various conditions, including pH, initial metal ion concentration, contact time, adsorbent dosage, amount of CoPB, amount of Mag, and temperature. By analyzing the experimental results, a rule-base was produced for developing Mamdani’s fuzzy logic system via if-then coding to provide a reliable prediction of the removal percentage under different operating conditions. The accuracy of the presented model for the prediction of the removal percentage was confirmed via the coefficient of determination ( R 2 > 0.98). The comparison of the developed fuzzy model with the artificial neural network model ( R 2 > 0.94) confirmed the effectiveness of the developed fuzzy model. Using the fuzzy logic system, the optimum operating conditions were achieved, and the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models described the best behavior of the adsorption process. The optimum conditions for the process were obtained at C i = 100 ppm, adsorbent dosage = 0.5 g L –1, T = 50 °C, CoPB concentration = 20%, Mag concentration = 20%, and pH = 5.5.
