Integration of accessible secondary metal sites into MOFs for H ₂ S removal

2,2′-Bipyridine-5,5′-dicarboxylic acid (H ₂ bipy) was utilized for the synthesis of a zirconium based MOF isoreticular to UiO-67. The chelating bipyridine moiety was used for postsynthetic functionalization of the MOF with different metal salts giving materials with good performance in capture of toxic H ₂ S.
