Focusing on the core concept of people-centeredness, this article provides an in-depth analysis of the philosophical roots and path of practical exploration of this idea in China’s people-to-people diplomacy system. Through an exhaustive review of the deep heritage of traditional Chinese people-oriented thinking, of the theoretical essence of Marxist historical materialism centered on the people, and of the latest achievements of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the article systematically reveals the history of the concept of people-centeredness in China’s foreign affairs strategy, and the innovative fashion in which this concept is now being applied. The article contends that the people-centered philosophy not only serves as the fundamental principle and action guide for China’s foreign policy, but that it also offers insightful Chinese wisdom and feasible Chinese solutions for the improvement and transformation of the global governance system. Meanwhile, China should strive to enhance the in-depth integration and interaction between theory and practice, to continuously drive innovation and development in the area of people-to-people diplomacy, and to participate in global governance with a more open and confident stance. In this way, China can contribute its strength to world peace and prosperity.
