The article examines the influence of anonymity on human behavior on the Internet. The psychological characteristics of online communication, the reasons for changes in user behavior under conditions of absent personal identification, as well as the positive and negative consequences of Internet anonymty are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of reduced social responsibility, manifestations of aggression, and the effect of personality liberation in the digital environment. The psychological mechanisms associated with selfperception on the Internet and the influence of social networks and anonymous platforms on communication between people are considered. It is conclud-ed that anonymity is an important factor that can both facilitate human self-expression and provoke destructive forms of behavior
