This study evaluates the impact of the transition to renewable energy on net migration across 61 countries during 2000-2023, employing the Panel ARDL technique. The study finds that a higher renewable energy share, renewable electricity generation per capita, energy intensity, and GDP per capita lead to increased net migration, but unemployment and CO2 emissions have adverse effects on net migration. Investing in renewable energy and sustainable development can strategically shape migration patterns for long-term socio-economic benefits.
