The article is devoted to the study of the influence of alexithymia on the crystallization of the ability of expressive communication among primary school children. Since primary school children, aged from 6 to 10 years, are in the process of active development of their communicative skills, their interaction with the surrounding world is established in this way. After all, primary school is a period when children acquire advanced social skills, master the ability to interact with peers and adults, and learn to express their thoughts and feelings, as well as understand the emotional signals of other people. Accurately identifying emotions and interpreting them appropriately is an important part of building relationships. The process of social adaptation is impossible if a child does not possess the ability to subtly understand and identify both their emotional experiences and their interlocutor’s experiences. Media can shape communication skills using developmentally appropriate tools, encourage positive and appropriate social interaction, and provide language and/or gesture patterns that are appropriate for a child’s developmental level. Both teachers and families need more resources and a supportive environment where they can find resources to support and develop children’s communication. The article analyzes scientific researches related to alexithymia and younger schoolchildren’s communication skills and considers the role of alexithymia in the communication methods formation, emotional intelligence development and effective interaction with others.
