Conceptual framework proposes AI-assisted resource sharing for improved outcomes in small mixed farms, suggesting enhanced efficiency.
This concept paper introduces the AI-Assisted Circular Farm Resource Framework (AICFRF), a human-governed planning system intended to help small mixed farms identify and coordinate safe local exchanges of resources, labour, equipment and agricultural materials. The paper also proposes a 24-farm Ontario feasibility study comparing standard farm planning, human-managed resource sharing and AI-assisted resource sharing. Proposed outcomes include purchased-input costs, exchange completion, coordination time, environmental effects, farm productivity, usability and participant trust. The framework keeps farmers in control of all decisions and includes safeguards for privacy, safety, regulatory compliance and responsible AI use. This publication presents a conceptual framework and research proposal. It does not report completed experimental results and has not undergone formal peer review.
