ABSTRACT Removal of organic dyes from wastewater is currently one of the attention‐grabbing challenges in the field of water remediation. Nano adsorbents exhibit substantial potential for removing organic dyes. In the current study, the green synthesis of CuO/ZnO nanoparticles incorporated into MOF‐5 using the extract of Saraca indica leaves as a reducing agent was reported for the efficient removal of organic dyes from aqueous solutions. The nanomaterial was characterized using UV–visible spectroscopy, x‐ray diffraction, energy‐dispersive x‐ray spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy, which confirmed the synthesis of a nanocomposite with an average size of 7.24 nm. The catalytic activity of the nanocomposite was evaluated using methylene blue and crystal violet as dyes by varying factors such as adsorbent dose, dye concentration, time, pH, and temperature. The observed % removal of methylene orange (MO) and crystal violet (CV) by the nanocomposite was 89% and 92%, respectively, under laboratory conditions. A novel nanocomposite has proven to be a promising adsorbent for removing organic dyes from aqueous media.
