A low-dispersion spectroscopic search for optical quasars has produced 91 candidates for which probable redshifts could be measured. Coordinates and finding charts are given. These and 156 other optically discovered quasars were observed at Arecibo to a 5-sigma flux limit of about 14 mJy at 2380 MHz. Eighteen were detected, and flux limits are given for the others. A local luminosity function is derived for quasars and class 1 Seyfert galaxies. This is compared with the space density of high-redshift quasars from the optical survey. It is found that density evolution by a factor of the order of 1000 has occurred from z of approximately 2.2 to 0.2 for quasars with a bolometric luminosity of about 10 to the 47th power erg/sec.
