The forward and inverse scattering problems of electromagnetic waves from an inhomogeneous dielectric slab are considered under the WKB approximation. An inversion algorithm based on the impulse response of band-limited data for the reflection coefficient of a TE incident plane wave is developed. The algorithm is applied to three different dielectric profiles: linear profiles, parabolic profiles, and exponential profiles. In applying the algorithms, both ideal and noisy data are used. The accuracy and robustness of the algorithm against noise are verified through numerical simulations. Keywords:
