Investigates phytochemical properties and nutritional value of Brassica nigra leaves, suggesting potential medicinal applications.
The goal of the current investigation was to investigate the phytochemical and proximate characteristicsof Brassica nigra (L.) W.D.J.Koch. Herbal remedies have long been a significant origin of treatmentfor a number of human illnesses. The pharmacognostic assessment of the plant material was a crucialfactor in determining if a medicine had been adulterated or treated inappropriately. In the current study, the ash values of Brassica nigra (L.) W.D.J.Koch leaf were analyzed. With the aid of five separatesolvent extracts (such as chloroform, ethyl acetated, methanol, petroleum ether, and water), theextractive yields of leaves from Brassica nigra (L.) W.D.J.Koch were calculated. Fluorescence analysiswas performed on both the solvent extracts and the leaf powder. The total ash levels were found to begreater in both leaf samples than acid insoluble and water-soluble ash. The leaf extracts under studyrevealed significant extractive yields when extracted in a methanol solvent. The leaves of the plant hadthe maximum values of total ash, acid insoluble ash, water soluble ash and extractive yield.Fluorescence study was performed on the leaf extracts and leaf powder, which revealed distinctivecoloration with diverse compounds.
